A tad above 3,000 meters, the "Piton Des Neiges" (snow peak) stands in the centre of the island. It is only accessible by hiking through several routes. You sleep at the refuge "la caverne dufour" and the final ascent is made at night to arrive at the top when the sun rises. Splendid 360 degree views of the entire island of Reunion! In very clear weather you can even see Mauritius.

To access the "cirque de Cilaos" you will have to drive on the "road of 400 turns"!
