Reunion is a tropical island located in the Indian ocean. The word variety would describe it best: its population is a melting pot of descendants from mainly Africa, Asia and Europe, its landscapes range from white sand beaches to high altitude peaks, its cuisine is derived from Indian and Chinese origins with some French influences.
The Coast
The coast around Reunion consists of contrasting landscapes: on the Western side, white sand beaches including 22 km of lagoons whereas the Southern and Eastern sides are made of basaltic rocks with cliffs and black sand beaches.
Villa Manguiers, on the West coast opposite the lagoon of La Saline-Les-Bains, is ideally located to enjoy the pleasures of the sea (swimming, snorkelling, paddle boarding etc).
REUNION ISLAND NATIONAL PARK
A large part of Reunion Island mountainous interior is now a national park LISTED BY UNESCO AS A NATURAL WORLD HERITAGE SITE. There you will find spectacular landscapes with plenty of peaks, ramparts, canyons, waterfalls … which together with its volcano form the landmarks of the island.
The Volcano
Reunion Island is home to the Piton de la Fournaise, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. If you happen to be there whilst there is an eruption, make the trip at night to go and see it: the flowing red lava in the dark of the night makes for unforgettable scenes.
… and more!
A trip to Reunion will also be an opportunity to discover many more things: endemic bird species, indigenous trees and flowers, as well as Reunion island's cultural heritage including local cuisine, traditional music, creole architecture, craft from the Mascarene ..
